摘要：A seal 21 is provided in which a weir pool 33 is created by overlapping a flange32 and a weir edge 40 flange. A passage 37 is provided whereby through controlledlubricant leakage a carbon seal 30 is effectively cooled to prevent overheating of aportion 31 adjacent that carbon seal 30 during operation. The weir pool 33 is created bycentrifugal forces and the remainder of the lubricant passes over the weir edge 40 inorder to lubricate bearings 27. Thus, the seal 21 allows use of a carbon seal 30 betweenshafts 22, 23. Furthermore, at least one shaft 22 can be more conveniently formedintegral with a turbine blade assembly 51.
