The Soochow University, formerly known as Dongwu University, was founded in 1900 as one of the first Chinese universities to offer postgraduate education. In 1952, the Soochow University Schools of Arts and Sciences, Soochow University and Kangnam University departments of mathematics and science merged to form the Soochow University, which was renamed the Soochow University in the same year. In 1982, the school was Soochow University. The Soochow University, the Suzhou Silk Institute and the Soochow University were later merged into the Soochow University. The Soochow University is located in the famous historical and cultural city of Suzhou. The State Project 211 key universities, the State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence and the Government of the People's Republic of China of Jiangsu province jointly build universities, and the state double first-class world-class universities build universities, jiangsu province is a key comprehensive university, which is a pilot university for comprehensive reform of doctoral education in China.
