When one have money, he can do what he want to .

Once one has money ,he can do what he wants (to do) 二.

I believe I can do it well and I will better know the world outside the campus.

There are many ways to know the society. For example by TV ,radio ,newspaper and so on . 剖析:本句后半部分"for example by TV ,radio ,newspaper and so on .”

There are many ways to know society ,for example ,by TV ,radio ,and newspaper.

At the age of ten, my grandfather died. 这句中"at the age of ten" 改为: When I was ten, my grandfather died.

例. To do well in college, good grades are essential.

剖析:句中不定式短语 “to do well in college” 的逻辑主语不清楚. To do well in college, a student needs good grades.

None can negative the importance of money.

None can deny the importance of money.

Mary was friendly to my sister because she wanted her to be her bridesmaid.

Mary was friendly to my sister because she wanted my sister to be her bridesmaid. 例. And we can also know the society by serving it yourself. We can also know society by serving it ourselves.

There are many ways we get to know the outside world.

剖析:这个句子包含了两层完整的意思:“There are many ways.” 以及“We get to know the outside world.”。

There are many ways for us to learn about the outside world. 或: There are many ways through which we can become acquainted with the outside world 八.

3

http http://www.hwkaoyan.com

例1. The increasing use of chemical obstacles in agriculture also makes pollution.

The abusive use of chemical substances in agriculture also causes/leads to pollution. 九. 累赘

例: In spite of the fact that he is lazy, I like him.

剖析:本句的“the fact that he is lazy”系同谓语从句,我们按照上述“能用词组的不用从句”可以

改为:In spite of his laziness, I like him.

例. For the people who are diligent and kind, money is just the thing to be used to buy the thing they need.

Diligent, caring people use money only to buy what they need. 十.

例. The fresh water, it is the most important things of the earth.

剖析:The fresh water 与逗号后的it 不连贯。 Fresh water is the most important thing in the world.

There are many people think Problem have been more and more 十二.

I did not expect he will come 十三.

The society is changing more and more faster

When we meet difficulties, we must keep calm (meet with, encounter) If this situation continues, children will be very dangerous(in danger) I adventure to write this letter (venture)

My hometown will must become very beautiful (definitely)

When we touch the other people in the society (are in contact with)

We should do from ourselves (we are supposed to do our parts\\do our own bit\\ make our due contribution)

environment government recommend permitted modern nowadays

4

http http://www.hwkaoyan.com

常见的有as, such, for example, for instance, a case, in point 等。

http http://www.hwkaoyan.com

这些语气词有 :must, always, never, the most,al1,merely,only,have to, any, no, completely, none, hardly 等。 这些语气词有:could, may, often, should, usually, might, most(大多数),more or less, relatively, be likely to, possible, whether or, not necessarily等。

The other side of a state legal apparatus is a state military apparatus. While the one protects the individual from violence, the other sacrifices the individual to violence in the interests of the state. In war the state affirms its supreme power over the individuals within its own borders. War is not simply a trial by combat to settle disputes between stats; it is the moment when the state makes its most powerful demands upon its people for their commitment, allegiance and supreme sacrifice. Times of war test a community’s deepest religious and ethical commitments Q: The word “allegiance” (line 5. Papa.3) in closest in meaning to A. loyalty B. objective C. survival D. motive 2.

The researcher then studied the videotapes to analyze the matches in detail. Surprisingly, he found that errors were more likely when the referees were close to the incident. When the official got it right, they were, on average, 17 meters away from the action. Q. The word “officials” (Line 4, Para 4) most probably refers to A. the researchers involved in the experiment B. the inspectors of the football tournament C. the referees of the football tournament D. the observers at the site of the experiment

We must recognize that environmental health issues do not stop at city limits, county lines, state or even federal boundaries. We can no longer afford to be tunnel versioned in our approach. We must visualize issues from every perspective to make the objective decisions. We must express our views clearly to prevent media distortion and public confusion. A. narrow minded B. blind to the facts C. short sighted D. able to see only one aspect 三.

You can begin to think of yourself as truly intelligent on the basis of how you choose to feel in the face of trying circumstances. The life struggles are pretty much the same for each of us. Everyone who is involved with other human beings in any social context has similar difficulties. Disagreements, conflicts and compromises are a part of what it means to be human. Similarly, money, growing old, sickness deaths natural disaster and accidents are all events which present problems to virtually all human beings. But some people are able to make it, to avoid immobilizing depression and unhappiness despite such occurrences while others collapse or have an N.B.D. Those who recognize problems as a human condition and don’t measure happiness by

7

an absence of problems are the most intelligent kind of humans we know; also, the most rare. Q. In the last paragraph, the author tells us that A. difficulties are but part of everyone’s life

B. depression and unhappiness are unavoidable in life C. everybody should learn to avoid trying circumstances

D. good feelings can contribute to eventual academic excellence. 2.

I recently visited a great little college in New York where campus has doubled its minority population in the last six years. D. minority can only enter the fields where no debate is heard about diversity 四.

No woman can be too rich or thin. This saying often attributed to the late Duchess of Windsor embodies much of the odd spirit of our times. Being thin is deemed as such a virtue. Q. In the eyes of the author, an odd phenomenon nowadays is that A. the Duchess of Windsor is regarded as a woman of virtue B looking slim is a symbol of having a large fortune C being thin is viewed as a much desired quality D religious people are not necessarily virtuous

A nine year old schoolgirl single handedly cooks up a science fair experiment that ends up debunking (揭穿…的) a widely practiced medical treatment. Emily Rosa’s target was a practice known as therapeutic touch, whose advocates manipulate patients’ “energy field” to make them feel better and even, say some, to cure them of various ills. Yet Emily’s test shows that these energy fields can not be detected, even by trained TT practitioners. Obviously mindful of the publicity value of the situation, Journal editor George Lundberg appeared on TV to declare, “Age does not matter. It is good science that matters, and this is good science”

Emily’s mother Linda Rosa, a registered nurse, has been campaigning against TT for nearly a decade. Linda first thought about TT in the late 80s, when she learned it was on the approved list for continuing nursing education in Colorado. Its 100,000 trained practitioners (48,000 in the U.S.) don’t even touch their patients. Instead, the waved their hands a few inches from the patient’s body, pushing energy fields around until they are in “balance. ” TT advocates say these manipulations can help heal wounds, relieve pain and reduce fever. The claims are taken seriously enough that TT therapists are frequently hired by leading hospitals, at up to 70 an hour, to smooth patients’ energy, sometimes during surgery.

8

http http://www.hwkaoyan.com

Yet Rosa could not find any evidence that it works. To provide such proof, TT therapists would have to sit down for independent testing---something the haven’t been eager to do, even though James Randi has offered more than 1 million to anyone who can demonstrate the existence of a human energy field. (He’s had one taker so far. She failed.) A skeptic might conclude that TT practitioners are afraid to lay their beliefs on the line. But who could turn down an innocent fourth grader? Says Emily :” I think they didn’t take me very seriously because I am a kid”

The experiment was straight forward:21 TT therapists stuck their hands, palms up, through a screen. Emily held her own hand over one of theirs--- left or right----and the practitioners had to say which hand it was. When the results were recorded, they had done no better than they would have by simply guessing. If there was an energy field, the could not feel it Q. What can we learn from the passage

A. some widely accepted beliefs can be deceiving B. solid evidence weighs more than theories.

C. little children can be as clever as trained TT practitioners. D. the principle of TT is too profound to understand

作者的观点一般用,in my view, in my opinion, personally, I think, I hold, I maintain等提出 3.

褒意: positive, supporting, praising, optimistic, admiring, interesting, humorous, serious, polite, pleasant, concerned, sober etc.

中性: indifferent, impassive, uninterested, ambivalent, neutral, impersonal, objective, informative, impartial, apathetic

贬意:disgusted, critical, negative, suspicious, tolerant, worried, pessimistic, depressed, disappointed, ironic, sarcastic, bitter, cynical, sentimental, emotional, angry

I’d like to/ I’d love to but

例. The students’ English club is having a party on Sunday night, can you come? I would like to, but I work at a restaurant on weekends. 2.

If the traffic was not so bad, I could have been home by 6:00 Do you like physics? Well I wish it were interesting

I need a bike today, I would have lent you if Bill had not taken it away 3. last Would you like to go mountain climbing with us? That is the last thing in the world I want to do. You are the last thing I want to see. 4. anything but.

9

http http://www.hwkaoyan.com

例:Everyone is helping out with dinner. Could you make the soup? Anything but that The hotel is anything but cheap 5. out of question和out of the question

例:Could you lend me $ 10 until the pay day? It is out of the question 6. can not be too.

You can not be too careful when you are driving a car.

数字关系用more/less, late/early, fast/slow, before/after 之类的形容词、副词或介词短语表示,多为时间题 例1.

A: Could you tell me the timetable of the school bus?

B: Well, the bus leaves here for the campus every two hours from 6:30am. But on weekends it starts half an hour later.

Q: when did the second bus leave on Saturday? a)7:30 b)8:00 c)8:30 d)9:00

例2. A: Sorry, Mr. Smith is not in. May I have him return your call? B: Yes, thank you I’m at 6330872…sorry it’s 6338720. Q: what’s the man’s telephone number?

a)6330872 b)6380372 c)6338720 d)6338726 2.

A: I have just got back from the holiday you arranged for me, but I must tell you the hotel was really awful! It was miles from the sea. The food was awful too. The bedroom was dirty.

B: Sorry about that but it’s not really our fault. The contract does say that the hotel accommodation is not our responsibility.

Q: Where is the conversation most probably taking place? at the airport b)in a travel c)in a hotel d)at home

10

http http://www.hwkaoyan.com

某一选项可能含有think, should, agree(disagree), share…opinion, like(dislike), will等词 提问方式有:

What did the woman/man say about…?

What’s the woman’s/man’s attitude towards/opinion about…? What does the woman/man mean/imply (by saying)? What did the woman/man think of…?

What does the man think the woman should do?

You can say it again.

I can’t agree with you any more.

I can’t agree more. / I can’t agree you more. I doubt.. I’d rather…

如果选项中出现he should/the man should…

1. A: Isn’t that a new brand of typewrite you are working at? B: Oh, Bill isn’t the first time you’ve asked me about it. Q: what does the woman imply? a) The man is a forgetful person b) The typewriter is not new

c) The man can have the typewriter later d) The man misunderstood her

2. A: Some people know a lot more than they tell. B: Unfortunately the reverse is also true. Q: What does the man mean?

a) Some people pretend to know what they really don’t b) What the woman said is true c) What the woman said is wrong

d) He knows more than the woman does 4.

11

http http://www.hwkaoyan.com

Who (what) is the man/woman?

What is the man’s/woman’s profession/occupation?

What is the probable relationship between the two speakers?

A: Suppose the company offered you a pay rise of 50%, would you be so determined to leave and look for a job elsewhere?

B: Yes I’ve set my mind on it; I’d like to find a job with scope to show my ability. Q: why has the man decided to leave the company? a) He is not equal to the job

b) He is not well paid for his work

c) He doesn’t think the job is challenging enough d) He can not keep mind on his work 6.

What are the two speakers discussing? What does the man/woman say about…? What can you learn from the conversation?

1. A: Did you hear Mike is in hospital with head injuries and a broken arm? B: yes, apparently he was struck by another vehicle and turned completely over. Q: what happened to Mike? a) His car was hit by another car

b) He was hurt while playing volleyball c) He fell down the stairs

d) While crossing the street, he was hit by a car.

2.A: I have to think about your offer I can’t say “yes” or “no” at the moment.

B: you can take your time. It will do if you let me know your decision in a day or two. Q: which of the following is true?

the man thinks the woman is wasting her time

the man thinks the woman should make full use of her time the man is eager to know the woman’s answer

the man can wait and there is no need for her to hurry
