摘要：A method and apparatus for counting the exact number of electrical circuitcomponents carried by a length of component dispensing tape (20) is disclosed. In thepreferred embodiment, the invention uses optical detectors to detect the transmissionof light through tape index holes (24) and component carrier compartment (22) holes andvariously to increment or inhibit operation of a counter accordingly. In one form of theinvention, the circuitry is adapted to detect automatically whether the tape is opticallytransmissive or opaque and to modify the counting scheme accordingly.
