一． 名词的数

名词分可数名词和不可数名词两大类

1. 不可数名词

A. 不可数名词没有单复数之分，包括专有名词抽象名词和物质名词

例如：抽象名词 health 健康 advice 建议

物质名词 water 水 air 空气 wood 木头

专有名词 America 美国 China 中国 Mike 人名

B. 表示学科名称以 ics 结尾的名词常做单数

例如： physics 物理 mathematics 数学

2. 可数名词 可数名词有单数和复数之分

A．一般情况下在词尾直接加 s

例如： tables 桌子 books 书 friends 朋友

B. 以 s，x，ch，sh结尾的名词后加 es

例如： bus-buses 公车 box-boxes 盒子 brush-brushes 刷子 watch-watches 手表

例外：stomach-stomachs 胃

C. 一些以辅音字母加o结尾的单词加es

例如： hero-heroes 英雄 tomato-tomatoes 西红柿 potato-potatoes 土豆

口诀：黑人和英雄喜欢土豆和西红柿 Negroes and heroes like potatoes and tomatoes.

很多以o结尾的单词变复数时只加s， pianos 钢琴 photos 照片 zoos 动物园 等

D. 以辅音字母加y结尾的单词，把y变为i加es。

例如： family-families 家庭 factory-factories 工厂 country-countries 国家

E. 一些以f和fe结尾的单词把f或fe变成v再加es。

例如：leaf-leaves 叶子 wife-wives 妻子 knife-knives 刀 life-lives 生命

妻子拿刀去杀狼，小偷看见发了慌，躲在架后保己名，半片树叶遮目光。

wife 妻子 knife 刀 wolf 狼 thief 小偷 shelf 架子 self 自己 half 一半 leaf 叶子

F. 一些不规则变化

例如：foot-feet 脚 goose-geese鹅 tooth-teeth 牙齿 man-men 男人 woman-women 女人 mouse-mice 老鼠 child-children 孩子

F. 还有一些单词单数和复数相同，单复同形。

例如：a fish – two fish 鱼 a deer- ten deer 鹿 a sheep- five sheep 绵羊

G. 表示各国人的单词。

Chinese- Chinese 中国人 Japanese-Japanese 日本人

Englishman-Englishmen 英国人 American-Americans 美国人

口诀：中日瑞（Swiss）不变，英法都要变，其他加s

H．一些名词常以复数形式出现

例如：trousers 裤子 glasses 眼镜 scissors 剪刀 clothes 衣服 compasses 圆规

I．复合名词的复数形式

以man或woman为前缀的名词变复数时，前后两个名词都变成复数。

man doctor-men doctors 男医生 man cook-men cooks 男厨师

woman singer- women singers 女歌手 woman servant- women servants 女仆

以两个名词构成的复合名词(前面的名词为man或woman除外)，一般把后面的名词变复数。

例如：boy friend→boy friends, 男朋友 paper bag→ paper bags 纸袋子

以“可数名词+介词(短语)”构成的复合名词变复数时，把前面名词变复数。

例如：father-in-law→ fathers-in-law 岳父，丈人
